Q&A With Music On Vinyl – The Dragline Reissue

MOV’s reissue of Dragline

The folks at Music On Vinyl were kind enough to answer a few questions about their reissue of Dragline. Check it out below. And voice your support for additional Paw reissues in the future!

Paw Community: What sparked your interest in reissuing Dragline? How did this come about?

MOV Crew: We received multiple suggestions from the fans to release this specific title on vinyl. So we went on looking for opportunities and contacted Universal Music to get the license for this album.

Paw Community: Urban legend is that the original master tapes for Dragline are lost. What source material did you all work with to make this reissue?

MOV Crew: We received and used high-res audio files (96 KHZ / 24 BIT) of the original masters via Universal Music.

Paw Community: I'm curious how publishing rights for song writing and mechanical royalties for units sold would be paid out to the band from MOV. How does this work?

MOV Crew: Unfortunately, we cannot give any information regarding publishing rights due to our non-disclosure agreement with Universal Music.

Paw Community: I imagine you all have dealt with a thousand different iterations of acquiring rights and permissions and such. Was it unusual for Dragline, given that A&M was the original publisher but A&M no longer exists?

MOV Crew: A&M was taken over by Universal Music, so we got the rights to release this record from them.

Paw Community: Any thoughts on reissuing other Paw albums on vinyl? Such as Death to Traitors? Or Home Is a Strange Place (which has never been released on vinyl)?

MOV Crew: At the moment, we’ve no other Paw albums scheduled for release on our label. Fans can leave their suggestions on our website by filling out our Request form.
