Location: Phoenix, AZ

Paw Fan Since: Man, I would guess 1993.

Favorite Paw Album: Dragline

Top 3 Paw Tracks:

  1. Sleeping Bag

  2. Jessie

  3. Peach (I love the shift in style). Great guitar playing.

Favorite Paw Riffs: This is a tough one to narrow down.

  • Intros: Pansy, No Such, Jessie, Couldn’t Know (straight up 1990s chunkiness).

  • Sleeping Bag: That clean part right after the verse (“The car she’s comin’ straight at you”).

  • Sugarcane: Again, the shift from the dirty intro into those sick, chords.

  • Sleeping Bag, again: The acoustic outro with that simple little recurring electric riff.

Favorite Paw Lyrics:

  • Sleeping bag: “Someone Call The Doctor” definitely captures the desperation of an awful memory. Also a great transition from a beautiful guitar interlude back into the heavier parts.

  • Gasoline: “Twenty times to get it, Twenty times to give, You kept it inside, long enough, Enough to let it live.” Took me forever to figure out the words. I just like the lyrical flow of this song. It’s a choppy song on purpose.

  • Ruby Red: “Baby, you sweet as watermelon, Ruby red, down to the rind, Oh baby, you sweet as watermelon, Yeah, ruby red, down to the rind, Oh, why you gotta leave me hungry ,When I love that fruit so fine.” I’m a sucker for goofy, bluesy lyrics.

  • The Bridge: “Yeah, and do you remember, aw, how you lied to me?” This is as much for how the lyrics fit the guitar riff perfectly.

Favorite Paw Memories:

  • I’m trying to remember how I found Paw. 120 Minutes? We also had a radio station for a while that played some different stuff so maybe there. I just remember being young and learning guitar. It was the first time I really noticed how cool “diminished-chord” guitar playing is. I was pretty much a power chord machine back then. Currently I play in a band that is a hybrid punk-boogie rock-rockabilly thing with a huge blues influence. I love, chunky riffs, and dirty guitar tone. Sound familiar?

  • Around 6 months ago, another band I jam with had a thread going about obscure 1990s bands. I threw out Stick (Paw neighbors, I believe). Before I could get to round 2, someone shared Jessie from YouTube. I was blown away. I didn’t realize how widespread Paw was.

Paw Wishlist:

  • Well, like everyone, a tour.

  • Honestly, Godzillionaire is great, so I’d “settle” (it’s not really settling LOL) for that. Hopefully the world gets going again.
